Self-portrait in Switzerland / Auto-retrato na Suíça

No, I’ve never been there, but would like to go someday. This is my first work on canvas, and I think I’ll stick with them from now on. Manipulating paint seems much easier with the proper material. Painting has always been to me a reflection of how I feel about life, and as my feelings change, so does the artwork inspired by them.

É devastador a presença no mundo. A magnitude de existir me comove de fora pra dentro.

i always wished i had the ability to express myself thru painting. my sister is a painter and like you, her paintings tend to change through the passage of her life and experiences. there was a time she was going thru some very hard times and her paintings reminded me much of frida kahlo's in their angst and pain. today, she is happy and at peace and so she paints mostly landscapes, lighthouses, beach scenes....yes, your life certainly does reflect that which you paint....keep on doing it....good work.

Thanks a lot guys! I painted this during the carnival holidays, early this month, when most people were either on the beach or on the streets with the crowds. I thought it was a good opportunity to get artistic. (Isn’t it always?) I never had any painting classes, but I sure plan to get some in a near future. Sometimes it’s difficult to do one thing at a time. Kisses and hugs!

Hi Gilson! This painting took my breath away -- I felt like I was in a museum, walking along, and suddenly I am stopped by this completely amazing painting that makes my spirit soar! You are awesome, Gilson!!
